La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - Dairyland Power Cooperative has donated $2,000 to the Vernon County Sheriff's Department, which serves Dairyland's Genoa property.
The Genoa Site property includes a coal-fired generating station, shut-down nuclear facility and dry cask storage installation.
The donation to the sheriff's department is not earmarked for a specific item or need; it will used by department personnel as they see fit for equipment or to support services benefiting area communities.
"In addition to their excellence in community protection and service, Dairyland is very appreciative of the time and effort the Vernon County Sheriff's Department expends to support security at the Genoa facility. Through this donation, we hope to assist the Department by helping fund an item that supports their efforts to ensure safety in Vernon County," said Rude.
Headquartered in La Crosse, Dairyland provides wholesale electricity to 25 member distribution cooperatives and 16 municipal utilities.
