Eagles prefer to do their damage from long distance

La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  If you haven't figured out the identity of the UW-La Crosse men's basketball team yet all you have to do is cue up the video from Wednesday's blowout win over UW-Superior.

Simply put, the Eagles love to dial long distance.

UW-L's sharp shooters were on display again in the 79-51 win.

They hit 10 three-pointers in the first half, including a stretch in which they made 9 in a row.

It's been a recipe for success all season for the 10-4 Eagles.

They lead the conference in three-pointers made and are second in three point percentage, making 44 percent so far this season.

"Shooting the basketball from the three-point line is a big part of our game. We've got guys that are capable and can knock it down. We don't ever want them to hesitate. The one thing we need to do is find the right mix and balance. We've got to get it inside. We got to put it on the deck and take it to the basket and we did that a little bit in the second half," said Eagles head coach Ken Koelbl.

"A lot of teams go inside-out. We go outside-in to make teams guard us from the outside. Then it kind of opens things up on the inside. Thee points is more than two," said guard Braden Tice.

The Eagles are 4-1 in the WIAC.
