Police release names of those in custody after armed robbery

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – La Crosse Police have arrested two people in connection with an armed robbery in the city.

It happened shortly before 5:30 p.m., Thursday night. In a statement from La Crosse Police said, James Green, 20, from La Crosse and a 15-year-old male teenager forced their way into an apartment at 1129 9th Street South. Two females and two young children were inside at the time.

One of the men had a black plastic mask on his face while the other one had a dark hoodie around his face with the hood tied close together.

One of the victims told police, the men demanded cash and one of them displayed a handgun. Officers said one of the victims was able to call 911 during the incident and inform them that they were being robbed.

Police said they arrived on scene with the suspects still inside. Officers surrounded the apartment and placed the suspects under arrest as they left the apartment.

Police said a handgun, a .357 revolver, was found inside the apartment.

Both men face charges for armed robbery. Green is facing a charge for felon in possession of a firearm.

The case is under investigation.

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)-- La Crosse Police responded to an armed robbery in progress about 5:20 Thursday evening.

Police were called to 1129 9th Street South. According to Sgt. Randy Rank, there were two females home with two children when two masked men entered the home with weapons.

Police arrived and surrounded the building.

Sgt. Rank says the two suspects tried to escape but were taken in to custody. The women and children were unharmed. After the two arrests, officers searched the home.

"The officers were searching the residence after the two suspects were taken in to custody," Sgt. Rank said. "The weapons had not been located, that's why we were conducting a search to locate those weapons. A weapon has been recovered at the scene. It should be noted there were no shots fired and no one injured at this time."

Sgt. Rank says more information about names and charges will be available Friday, once the interviews with witnesses and the suspects are complete.
