LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – This weekend staff and students at Generous Earth Pottery are hoping to make 1,000 bowls to help people struggling with hunger in La Crosse.
They'll be ready for purchase Feb. 8 during the "Empty Bowls" fundraiser.
For $15 people will get one of the hand-made bowls, filled with locally-made soup.
All proceeds will go to the Channel One Regional Food Bank.
"There are so many people in our community that are needy, that are hungry. We have the resources to create bowls – bowls that will then be filled with soups – and 100 percent of the money will go to our local food banks," said Karen Bressi, owner of Generous Earth Pottery.
About 25 people too part in Saturday's "Bowl-a-thon"
The group made about 800 bowls Saturday and will continue working from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
