LA CORSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – More than 500 skiers made their way to Mt. La Crosse Sunday, taking full advantage of the warmer winter weather.
The runs were busy until closing time, and staff said that's a nice change compared to last weekend.
Mt. La Crosse closed early last Sunday and stayed shut down until Wednesday because of the brutally cold temperatures.
That was the firs time in about 20 years the Mt. La Crosse closed due to cold weather.
"When the temperatures get as dangerous as they say they're going to, we just have to really think about the comfort and safety of our employees and customers, of course. So we made the tough choice to shut down for a couple of days; wait out the really cold weather," said Darcie Breidel, general manager of Mt. La Crosse.
All of Mt. La Crosse's runs are now open.
