LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Next Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The city of La Crosse holds its annual La Crosse Community Annual Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.
This year features Minnesota Supreme Court Justice and NFL Hall of Fame Member Allen Page. Page will be the keynote speaker next Monday at 7 p.m. in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
Page had an outstanding professional football career playing defense for the Minnesota Vikings in the 1970s. He was elected to the NFL Hall of Fame in 1988.
Page became Minnesota's first African-American Supreme Court Justice when he was elected to the court in 1992.
He attended law school at the University of Minnesota during the height of his football career.
The event will also feature music by the Viterbo Concert Choir and the presentation of the MLK Leadership Award, which will be given to William Coleman and Dempsey Miller III.
The award honors both men's extraordinary contributions to the La Crosse community that demonstrate Rev. King's legacy of positive change from generation to generation.
The event is free and open to the public.
