TOWN OF UNION, Wis. (AP) - Eau Claire County sheriff's officials say a man has been shot by a deputy in an exchange of gunfire.
Authorities say deputies went to a Town of Union home about 10 p.m. Monday on a report of domestic violence. After they arrived, deputies determined a woman in the home with the man was in danger. A tactical team was called.
Officials say the male suspect came out of the home at one point with an assault-type rifle and fired at a deputy. There was an exchange of gunfire and the man was wounded. He was taken to a local hospital. His condition is not known.
Authorities say they are familiar with the man because he's been unruly and violent in previous contacts with deputies.
