LA CRESCENT, Minnesota (WXOW) -- Southeastern Minnesota area residents met with elected officials Monday afternoon at the Legion Club in La Crescent to discuss safer ways to transport oil across area railways.
A few of their concerns stem from several recent train derailments in North Dakota and northern Minnesota involving trains transporting carrying oil.
Residents say train traffic is increasing along railways in southeastern Minnesota and some believe that will one day be a recipe for disaster.
A representative from Tim Walz's office was on hand as the officials and citizens carried out discussions.
