ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- The Great Rivers United Way asks community members to step up this month and "Give a Little Extra."
The non-profit organization stands about $136,000 short of their 2014 campaign goal. To fund the 73 outreach programs aided by the United Way, they need to have that money pledged by the end of this month. That doesn't include the eight additional programs the organization hopes to fund this upcoming year.
Campaign chairs John and Linda Lyche said without the charitable support donated to the United Way, some people in the Coulee Region could face grave danger.
John Lyche said, "We talk lightly about some of the things we do, but some of these are truly life and death kind of issues that, without the help of the community, they would become a reality."
The two went on to say if many people can donate a little bit more, big things can happen.
Linda Lyche added, "Give a little. A dollar a week, 52 dollars--that makes a difference. It's all about a community at whole coming together and making a difference as a group."
You can donate by going to gruw.org Or by calling 608-796-1400. Again, they only require a pledged donation by January 31st.
