Aaron Rodgers wins 2014 Bart Starr Award

GREEN BAY (WXOW) -- The winner of the 2014 Bart Starr Award goes to our very own Green and Gold #12, Aaron Rodgers.

The Bart Starr Award is given to an NFL player who best exemplifies the Pro Football Hall of Famer's commitment to family, team and the community. 

According to Packers.com, Athletes in Action announced the honor Wednesday. 

Rodgers will be honored January 31st during the 27th annual NFL-sanctioned Super Bowl Breakfast in New York.

Other finalists for the award were Ryan Clark, safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jared Allen, defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings.

Rodgers has been active in numerous charitable projects during his nine years in the NFL.  He has partnered with Raise Hope for Congo, speaking publicly abut his desire to see an end to conflict there.  He is an activist for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC) fund, which works to cure childhood cancer and blood disorders.  Rodgers, along with Milwaukee attorney David Gruber, also created www.itsaaron.com to build awareness for organizations and people making a difference in their community.  Other projects Rodgers involves himself with is Young Life and the Make-A-Wish foundation.
