LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department said this week is a chance to get off the couch, put on a pair of snow boots, and enjoy winter.
The 28th annual Winter Rec-Fest is underway.
Gundersen Health System presented Family Fun Night Friday.
People of all ages could make the trip to Green Island Ice Arena to go sledding, ice skating, or watch the movie Cool Runnings on the ice.
Last year Parks and Rec. had to cancel family fun night because there wasn't enough snow, said Becca Schaar with the Parks Department. To make up for it, there are now two. The next Family Fun Night will be Friday, Jan. 24 at Forest Hills Golf Course.
"It's a way to get the whole family out there. A lot of our other events are team sports, tournaments. This is something that everyone can participate in together," Schaar said.
Buttons are required for all Rec-Fest events. They cost $2 and can be purchased at Green Island Ice Arena, Black River Beach Neighborhood Center and the Parks and Rec. Department.
