WSU Drops Matchup With Sioux Falls Despite Cameron’s Double-Double

SIOUX FALLS, SD – Taylor Cameron recorded his first double-double of the season but it wasn't enough, as the No. 16 Winona State men's basketball team fell to Sioux Falls 76-69 Saturday in Sioux Falls.
Cameron scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Warriors, posting the fifth double-double of his career in the process. The senior, who finished one point short of his career high, went 3-of-4 from behind the 3-point line on the night.
Two other Warriors finished the game in double figures scoring, with Kellen Taylor netting 16 and Isaiah Gray scoring ten.
Winona State went to work erasing an eight-point halftime deficit right away in the second, eventually tying the game at 45 with 13:15 remaining on a jumper by Cameron. A back-and-fourth game emerged from there, with the lead changing hands five times in the final five minutes. The Warriors held a three point lead with 1:50 to play after a pair of free throws by Cameron, but USF scored eight of the next nine points to build a six point lead with 36 seconds remaining.
The Warriors struggled shooting, hitting just 36 percent (20-of-55) of their shot attempts.
The WSU defense was able to force 17 USF turnovers, with Taylor ending the game with four steals and Cameron collecting three. Taylor also blocked four of the seven shots the Warriors swatted on the game.
The Warriors (15-4 overall, 10-2 NSIC) will return home next weekend to host games against Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul.
