3 awarded for their ecumenical endeavors

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – Bethany St. Joseph Corporation honored three La Crosse-area residents Wednesday for their exceptional work helping people in need.

The 28th annual Iverson Freking Ecumenical Recognition Award went to Father Robert J. Cook, Thomas Hundt and Jane Steingraeber.

The award is based on a person's spiritual example, commitment to the community, and respect for the faith of others.

It's named in honor of the late Carl Iverson and late Bishop Frederick Freking.

To date, the group has presented 62 awards over the years.
