La Crosse, Wisconsin (WXOW)-- They were supposed to be in service for Oktoberfest but now 4 1/2 months later they're still not operational.
The City of La Crosse says at issue with the ramp parking pay stations is the debate over what to charge for parking. The pay stations have already been installed but they're not turned on yet.
The original plan was to make parking in the downtown ramps free for the first three hours...after that 50 cents an hour. The city now says the fees are still up for debate.
Council President Audrey Kader said they are still figuring things out. "We've talked about a range from one hour to three hours and the variable being the grace period and the amount."
Drivers will have to pay in the Main Street, Market Square or La Crosse Center ramps in the near future.
