Two headed to prison for drug distribution

MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Two people from the La Crosse area are going to prison for distributing drugs in part in stuffed toy animals.

In federal court on Wednesday, Edward Riel of Onalaska received a four year sentence for conspiracy to possess oxycodone with intent to distribute.

Also sentenced was Jan Dettmann of La Crosse to 14 months in federal prison for a similar charge.

According to investigators, oxycodone pills were paid for by Moneygram wire transfers then shipped in stuffed toy animals through FedEx.
More than $350,000 was wired for the purchase of pills said investigators.

A third person, Erica Litsheim, also pleaded guilty to charges.  She received a sentence of 12 months and one day behind bars.
