Man, 20, charged with killing Minn. Good Samaritan
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a 20-year-old Minneapolis man with murder for fatally shooting a homeowner who tried to help him.
Devon Parker was charged Monday in Hennepin County with one count of second-degree murder.
Parker is charged in the death of 69-year-old Thomas Sonnenberg, who was killed with his own gun in his north Minneapolis home shortly before noon Friday.
The Star Tribune reports Sonnenberg had called 911 after Parker came to his house claiming that someone with a bat was chasing him. Sonnenberg let Parker into his house, then locked the door behind him before placing the call.
According to the complaint, Sonnenberg's wife told police that Parker appeared "frantic, paranoid and in some sort of distress."
Parker remains in jail. He's expected to appear in court Tuesday.
