Sparta PD using social media to help catch criminals

SPARTA, Wis. (WXOW) - The Sparta Police Department is using social media to help catch criminals.

They use their Facebook page to post pictures and descriptions of people they are looking for.

They have 'Wanted Wednesday' posts where they ask the community to help them find people convicted of crimes who are out on warrants.

They post the picture with a link to their website which includes details about who they are looking for and why.

So far the department has posted three wanted ads on Facebook and tips from the community helped them find and arrest all three people.

Chief Mike Kass said two were captured within a day. The other person was captured within a week.

Some posts, said Chief Kass, receive more than 2,000 views.
