WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) - One person has died and four others have been injured in a fire at a suburban Milwaukee assisted living center.
West Allis Deputy Fire Chief Jay Scharfenberg tells WISN-TV the fire was contained to one apartment and was quickly extinguished Thursday. One person inside that apartment was killed. Four others were taken to area hospitals. There's no immediate word on their conditions.
Fire officials say residents of the Heritage House followed the center's evacuation plan and were allowed back in their apartments Thursday night.
