Winona frac sand protesters convicted of trespassing

WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) -- A jury has convicted 20 people of trespassing during a protest against frac sand mining in Winona.

The group held a march last April against frac sand operations.

Many of the group members were arrested for protesting on private property. After a four-day trial, they were sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation with the condition that they stay away from frac sand operations.

Each person also has to pay $200 in restitution.
