ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) – About 20 people went for a snowmobile ride Saturday to raise money for local military families and veterans.
The Coulee Sno-Drifters and 2Brothers Powersports organized the first annual "Coulee Region Snowmobile Ride."
The group raised $830 for Operation Homefront.
Among its services, Operation Homefront provides food assistance, auto and home repair and financial assistance to veterans and military families.
"We've got some great people in our country that serve our nation and they don't get enough backing from the common folks. We felt that we just wanted to do something to do our part," said Ron Kendhammer, a member of the Sno-Drifters who served in the Navy from 1966-1968.
A handful of Thursday's participants are veterans.
