DNR to hold public meetings on SE Minn. deer goals

Posted: Updated:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources plans to hold two public meetings this month on how best to manage deer populations in southeastern Minnesota.

Population goals will be set for all 300-series permit areas, except for 338 and 339. Those areas are just south and west of the Twin Cities.

DNR big game program leader Leslie McInenly says the meetings give residents a chance to express their views on deer numbers and management.

The first meeting will be held Feb. 19 at Lake City Lincoln High School. The second meeting is set for Feb. 25 at the St. Charles Elementary School auditorium. Both meetings run from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Starting Monday, people can go to the DNR's website for more information on how the goals are set.
