LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The pond at West Salem's Veterans Memorial Park had some upgrades last fall. More upgrades are in its future.
On Monday, La Crosse County approved a resolution to accept funding for the second part of the pond revitalization project. The goal of this project is to turn the pond into a self-sustaining fishery.
The funds are coming from a county conservation aid grant. The state is also offering to match up to 50% of the grant money. Some private donations are being accepted with the resolution as well.
The first part of the project was completed last fall. The pond was dredged to remove built up sediment. The second part of the project will add an aeration system and fishing platforms.
