ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) - Update: Onalaska Police arrest the suspect in a recent car theft.

On Friday, Jake Donald Viner was taken into custody by Onalaska Police after they received information from the La Crosse Police Department. 

La Crosse Police said an anonymous tip on Viner's location was made to their department.  They then contacted Onalaska Police who made the arrest.

“This is a prime example of two jurisdictions working with the public to get a criminal off the street,” said Onalaska Police Chief Jeffrey Trotnic. “This individual was caught because of a working partnership between the police and the public.”

Viner was arrested for stealing a car a week ago from the Globe Onalaska campus, on Midwest Drive. The car was found the following morning.

Viner is being held in La Crosse County Jail.

ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) - The Onalaska Police Department has identified the suspect in connection with a stolen car, thanks to a tip from a citizen.

Police said the suspect is Jake Donald Viner, 27.  He is suspected of stealing a car a week ago from the Globe Onalaska campus, on Midwest Drive.  The car was found the following morning.

Police said Viner has several outstanding warrants for his arrest.  He is brown hair and brown eyes.  Viner's police records indicate that he is 6’2” tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.

Police are asking with information on Viner's whereabouts to call the Onalaska Police Department at (608) 781-9550 or La Crosse Area Crime Stoppers at (608) 784-TIPS.

Onalaska, Wis. (WXOW) – The Onalaska Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying suspect who stole a car last week.

Police said the vehicle was stolen from the Globe Onalaska campus, on Midwest Drive, Thursday around 8 p.m. Officers found the vehicle the following morning in the 500 block of 13th Place North.

Police are asking for help in identifying the suspect in the case.
