Kwik Trip to hold fifth annual fundraiser to benefit Honor Flights

La Crosse, Wis.(WXOW)- Kwik Trip will hold the fifth and final customer icon sale to benefit Freedom Honor Flight.

The Freedom Honor Flight is the first Wisconsin affiliate of the national network of Honor Flight organizations. The group’s mission is to organize and fly groups of veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the war memorials that stand in their honor. Freedom Honor Flight, based in La Crosse, serves 21 counties in western Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota and northern Iowa. The group receives no government funding and depends on donations, which are tax deductions to the full extent of the law.

Beginning this Valentine's Day and running through February 28, customers can support their regional Honor Flight hub by purchasing an icon for display at their local Kwik Trip, Tobacco Outlet, Hearty Platter, and Kwik Star.

Over the past five years, customers have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Honor Flights through this fundraising program. Last year, Freedom Honor Flight, based in La Crosse, received more than $42,000 through this effort. Donations are matched to the regional hub serving that Kwik Trip store location.

Veterans wishing to benefit from this fundraiser by participating in a flight can apply at or at their local veterans’ organizations. World War II veterans living in the 21-county Freedom Honor Flight service area who apply now can expect to be passengers on Freedom Honor Flight’s next mission, scheduled for this spring.
