Houston basketball players take the court for a cause

HOUSTON, Minn. (WXOW) - When the Houston Girls Basketball team walks on the court Thursday night, they're playing for more than just a win.

The team, along with the boys team-really the entire community-are coming together to support a young girl and her family.

Battling lymphoma, 10-year-old Alysta King has made repeated trips in and out of the hospital since she was diagnosed last October.

Both the girls and boys teams, through their games, are helping to raise money for the King family.

Tara King, Alysta's mom, is amazed at the support.  "These kids just want to help out.  Even at other schools they are doing wonderful things to help her out.  Other schools are contacting me to do benefits.  I just can't believe it."

While the girls team plays Thursday night, the boys take to the court to help out Friday night at 6:00 p.m. at Houston High School.
