Better Homes Expo teaches ways to make houses more durable

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Homeowners and contractors learned how to make their homes more efficient at the Better Homes Expo Saturday.

The Energy Center of Wisconsin hosted the event at Western Technical College.

Through a series of seminars and hands-on demos, about 200 attendees learned ways to make their homes more durable, improve ventilation, and review building standards.

Some even took a tour of one of La Crosse's high performance homes.

"Minimum standard building practices don't always guarantee you a comfortable house, and whether you have an existing home, there are ways to make it more energy efficient," said John Viner, senior project manager for Energy Center of Wisconsin.
