LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – With all the snow this winter, private businesses are dipping into resources and their overtime budget to make sure walkways and parking lots are cleared.
Wettstein's had a crew out in full force Sunday morning.
They plowed about a city block's worth of sidewalks and alleys, and the business' two parking lots, according to owner Dan Wettstein.
Wettstein said already he's spent about 75 percent more on snow removal and salt this year.
"With the snow removal comes the sun, and sometimes a little break in the weather. So you have a melting effect and then you have to salt all the sidewalks and the parking lots. That in itself, that's an added expense," Wettstein said.
Snow removal also diverts Wettstein and his staff from some other daily responsibilities, he added.
