BRF teen among 3 teenage girls stopped with $4,000 in cocaine

MERRILL, Wis. (WAOW) – Three teenage girls, one a 15-year-old from Black River Falls, stopped following a driving complaint, had 37 grams of cocaine worth about $4,000 in their pickup truck, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department said.

The incident occurred Friday about 4 p.m. near Tomahawk, the agency said.

An 18-year-old girl from Argonne was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute it, and two 15-year-olds from Port Edwards and Black River Falls were taken to juvenile detention facilities, Communications Officer Mike Caylor said.

One of the 15-year-old girls was driving the 2013 Ford pickup truck and was cited for driving without a valid driver's license, Caylor said.

Police stopped the girls after a cell phone caller complained that a pickup truck traveling north on U.S. Highway 51 was speeding and nearly ran a vehicle off the road, Caylor said.

An officer stopped the vehicle, smelled the odor of marijuana and summoned a drug-sniffing dog from Tomahawk, Caylor said.

An officer noticed that a 15-year-old girl who was a passenger had a “large bulge” in the front of her pants, Caylor said. She removed it and identified it as cocaine, he said.

No other details were released, including the name of the 18-year-old.
