Two hurt in accident in the Town of Kickapoo


KICKAPOO, Wis. (WXOW) - Icy roads are to blame for a two vehicle accident Thursday morning in the Town of Kickapoo.

It happened just east of Readstown on US Highway 14 near Espe Road.

The Vernon County Sheriff's Department said around 5:50 a.m., Clayton Neprud, 44, from Soldiers Grove, lost control of his pickup truck on the icy road. Officers said Neprud's truck spun out of control and went across the centerline into oncoming traffic. Authorities said Neprud's vehicle collided with a car driven by Jerry Schaller, 62, of Soldier's Grove.

The Sheriff's Department reports both drivers were transported by ambulance to Vernon Memorial Hospital. Their injures are unknown at this time.

Officers said both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff's Department.
