UWL Chancellor Gow apologetic over shutting campus down

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow is apologizing for jumping the gun on canceling classes Thursday in advance of a winter storm that for the most part, passed the city by.

In an email to students and faculty, Gow said that while the storm won't happen now until late in the day, it was too late to reverse all the plans put into motion by his announcement that afternoon and evening classes are canceled, so the cancellation remains.

He goes on to say that some of the offices and facilities at the university will be open Thursday afternoon.

Chancellor Gow, in the email, takes the blame himself for what happened. He stated, " I am the one who leads the team of people who make these kinds of decisions and I take full responsibility for the consequences.  So please direct any disappointment or frustration to me."
