LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) The UW-La Crosse Men's basketball will enter this weekend's bye secure in the knowledge that they have earned the 3rd seed in the WIAC Tournament, regardless of what happens with other teams.
The Eagles clinched the third seed with last night's 63-55 win over UW-Stout.
They made things difficult on themselves falling behind by 14 points in the first half.
But a 16-0 run midway through the game and 19-6 run to finish the game propelled UW-L to the win and a top 3 finish in the league.
"It's big for our program, to get to 10 wins and to finish 3rd in our league. I'm proud of our guys. They battled all year long. It's nice to know going into the bye this weekend where we're at and to play at home is big. We seem to play a little better here," said head coach Ken Koelbl.
"Coming into this season this was one of our goals, to host a playoff game. I'm hoping we can pull off the 'W'," said senior Braden Tice.
The Eagles will host UW-Oshkosh next Wednesday.
