Icy roads send semi into Genoa Fish Hatchery pond

TOWN OF GENOA, Wis. (WXOW) - A semi driver lost control of his truck sending it into the Genoa Fish Hatchery pond.

It happened about 6:40 p.m., Thursday, on State Highway 35, near Meadow Lane.

The Vernon County Sheriff's Department said James Grobrecht, 64, of Belmont, WI, was driving his semi south bound on the highway when he lost control of his semi due to ice on the road.  The semi overturned into the Genoa Fish Hatchery pond.

Officials said the semi-trailer was fully loaded and it took wreckers several hours to clean up the mess.

Grobrecht was able to climb out of the semi with help from Genoa Firefighters and a Sheriff's Deputy on scene.  Grobrecht received minor injuries.
