LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Finding the perfect prom dress can often come with weeks of searching and a hefty price tag.
But for the past two weeks, the Orange Door Prom Store gave girls the opportunity to buy new and gently used formalwear for no more than $50.
The YWCA's Teen LEAD program ran the store. It gives participants the opportunity to learn leadership, management and communication skills, according to Tracie Stinson, YWCA Teen Services Coordinator.
After closing Sunday, Stinson said they raised about $3,000 in total.
The money will go toward programming for at-risk teens, and the LEAD program's scholarship fund.
"Being able to go to college or use that (scholarship) to study abroad, or use that for something to further themselves or empower themselves in the future, I think goes back to the core of our mission," Stinson said.
