Posted:
La Crosse, WI (WXOW) Wednesday was Amy DuPont's last day on Daybreak for a couple of weeks.

Amy and photographer Mark Bronson are headed to Ethiopia this Friday with a team of healthcare workers from Gundersen Health System. The team is providing medical care at a children's home  called "Project Mercy".

Amy and Mark have been getting ready for this trip for weeks. They were both vaccinated for hepatitis A, polio, yellow fever, meningitis, and typhoid.  They are also taking a prescription to prevent malaria.

Amy and Mark as well as the Gundersen team will be in Ethiopia for about 2-weeks.  You can follow some of the team's work through a blog undated by team members.

WXOW.com will also have coverage of the team's trip on our website in the near future.

Amy's special report "Project Mercy" will air on Saturday, May 3rd immediately following the 6 PM report.
