U.S. soldier faces criticism after posting "selfie" on social media

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Another U.S. soldier faces criticism online after posting a controversial picture on social media.

Private First Class Tariqka Sheffey posted a picture to her Instagram account with a caption that read, "This is me laying back in my car hiding so I don't have to salute the 5PM flag ceremony."

And it seems Sheffey knew the criticism she could be subject to because the post continues because she asks that people keep their comments to themselves. Earlier this month, a National Guard member from Wisconsin faced serious backlash after posting a picture online.

Sheffey responded to the criticism Tuesday night saying she's not a disrespectful soldier and thanked those who stood by her side. Military officials say they are looking into the situation.
