LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) The UW-La Crosse men's basketball team is in the conference tournament semifinals for just the 4th time in school history.
They will play UW-Whitewater Friday night in Whitewater.
They got there thanks to a very workmanlike win over UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night.
The eagles out rebounded the Titans 43-24 on their way to the 15-point win.
Now come the Warhawks, a team ranked 2nd in the nation.
But the Eagles handed Whitewater one of their 3 losses last month.
"It gives us a lot of confidence as well. I mean, knowing that we beat this team, we can play with these guys it's a real confidence boost for us. That's going to help a lot," said junior forward Lucas Collom.
"We have a tough challenge ahead of us. We've already proved to ourselves that we're capable of beating that team. We've got to go into their place. It will be a tough environment. But I think our guys are ready and they're up to the challenge. I like our focus and we had it tonight," said UW-L Head Coach Ken Koelbl.
The winner advances to the WIAC Championship Sunday.
