One arrested in Sparta meth bust

SPARTA, Wis. (WXOW) - One person is arrested following a meth lab bust in Monroe County. 

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said there was a call made to the County Dispatch Center about a gas leak around 5 a.m., Tuesday.   The caller said the leak was at 
8047 Iband Ave in the Township of Sparta. 

Sheriff’s Deputies said they were able to determine that a possible meth lab was the issue. 

The Monroe County Detective Bureau, along with the State of Wisconsin DCI obtained and executed a search warrant at the home and found items inside related in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. 

Deputies said an adult male was taken into custody.  The man's name is being withheld pending review for charges by the Monroe County District Attorney’s office.
The incident remains under investigation. 

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office and DCI at the scene were the Sparta Area Ambulance Service and the Sparta Area Fire District.  The State of Wisconsin DCI made arrangements for a government contracted hazard material team to collect the hazardous materials that were collected during the search warrant.
