Congressman Kind opposes U.S. military force on Russian troops

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Rep. Ron Kind, D-WI 3rd Congressional District, said he's opposed to using U.S. military force on Russian troops in Ukraine.

Kind said while the invasion violates international law, he doesn't see any immediate threat to the security of the country or U.S. citizens abroad.

"We'll be out in Washington this week for briefings on what options we face. There'll be the obvious check the box items, canceling the G8 Summit in Sochi, Russia that's scheduled to take place, perhaps some visa restrictions, maybe some asset freezes, and possibly some economic sanctions. That would have to be with the support of the international community," he said.

Kind said Russia's actions are nullifying the successes of the Sochi Olympics in depicting Russia as a responsible member of the global community.
