Warriors To Play Northwest Missouri State In NCAA Tournament
WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State men's basketball team has earned the fourth seed in the NCAA Central Regional Tournament and will take on Northwest Missouri State Saturday in the postseason tournament's opening round. The game is set for 7:30 pm Saturday in Mankato, Minn.
Winona State is making its tenth appearance in the NCAA Regional Tournament and its ninth in the last ten seasons. The Warriors are 26-7 overall on the season, their tenth straight campaign with at least 20 victories and third in a row with at least 25.
The Warriors are led by three players who earned all-NSIC honors, with Kellen Taylor claiming a first team selection while also being tabbed as the NSIC Defensive Player of the Year. Taylor Cameron and Riley Bambenek earned second team honors, with Bambenek also being named the league's freshman of the year.
Northwest Missouri State is the fifth seed in the regional tournament and holds a 22-8 overall mark. The Bearcats are led by MIAA Player of the Year DeShaun Cooper who averages 16.7 points per game.
Winona State and regional host Minnesota State are the only two teams to advance to the NCAA Tournament from the NSIC.
