LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) --- Another candidate has entered the race for the 3rd District Congressional Seat.
Republican Chris Anderson wants to challenge incumbent Democrat Ron Kind. The 28 year old Anderson said he will focus on the federal debt and criticized Kind for his support for Obamacare.
Anderson resigned as an aide to Republican Senator Ron Johnson in January. Prior to that he served in Afghanistan in the U.S. Army.
Anderson is a 2007 graduate of the UWL and says he considers his age an advantage.
"Ron Kind was not much younger than me when he was first elected. There is really a movement of young people stepping forward to take the reigns of responsibility and the burdens of public office."
Anderson joins Ken Van Doren as announced candidates for the Republican nomination to run against Kind. Van Doren is a former Mauston City Council member and also a member of a Tea Party group.
