LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) ----- It wasn't pretty, it wasn't easy but La Crosse Central is headed back to the WIAA State Tournament after a grind-it-out 33-28 win in overtime over New London.
It was a battle just to get to overtime for the Red Raiders, down by seven with 4:00 minutes left to play, Central started a furious comeback.
First it was Brooke Baldwin grabbing her own offensive rebound and scoring to make the score 25-20.
A few minutes later, she followed that up with a 3-pointer to cut the lead to three with just over 2:00 minutes left to play.
Then with 1:30 left to play her sister Brittany scored a 3-point play the old-fashioned way to tied the game at 26 and force overtime.
In overtime, Central scored all of their points from the free throw line, going 7 for 10 as a team which was good enough to propel the Red Raiders to the win.
Central is headed back to State for the first time since 1995 and the Red Raiders with face 25-1 Deforest on Friday night at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
