La Crosse School Board to recognize north side church

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The Board of Education for the School District of La Crosse will recognize Trinity Lutheran Church for their partnership with the district at their board meeting Monday night.

Trinity Lutheran Church is an outstanding example of a partnership between the School District of La Crosse and the community,” shares Superintendent of Schools Randy Nelson.

The church houses and operates a clothes closet for the students within the district.

In some situations, family resources have been stretched to the point of breaking,” said Nelson. “Feeding the children, putting gas in the car to get to work or purchasing diapers for the baby stresses the pocket book of some of our families mightily. Unfortunately a warm coat, snow pants or even a pair of mittens can be beyond the family’s capacity.”

The church’s clothes closet provides new and used clothing and essentials from newborn to children size XL.  On any given Wednesday night throughout the cold weather seasons, the closet serves anywhere between 15 and 80 people.

Each month the Board of Education is recognizing a community or business partner that has made an impact in the School District of La Crosse.
