Central's Dominating Defense

La Crosse, WIS. (WXOW) ------- For the La Crosse Central girls basketball team, this season has been nothing short of special and special is the perfect way to describe the Red Raiders defense this season. Shutting down teams from their 1-3-1 defense Central has not allowed a team to reach the 40 - point mark since January 3rd.

"We know that, that is our bread and butter and that we have to play good defense to stay in ballgames, the girls have really embraced that and they take a lot pride in their defense," said Head Coach Nahmie George.

The Red Raiders have been so stout on defense that opponents are only averaging 22 points per game against Central.

"Sometimes we struggle on offense so we have to work our hardest on defense if we want to win ballgames, so we work really hard on that, we hustle and try our hardest to try to get turnovers," said Senior Brooke Baldwin.

"We like to put a lot of pressure on the ball we like to do that, that helps with the turnovers also, our defense has been really striving and we have been really good at that this year," said Senior Katlyn Roesch.
