Warrant Issued for co-owner of Mississippi River Rental

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – A warrant has been issued for the co-owner of a houseboat rental in La Crosse.

La Crosse County has issued a $5,000 warrant for the arrest of Kristina Short.

Short is the co-owner of Mississippi River Rentals. A judge issued a warrant Thursday after Short failed to appear for her court appearance.

Short and Michael Fuchsel, owner of Mississippi River Rentals, are charged with theft from the business.

According to the criminal complaint, nine people have not been refunded the deposit they paid to reserve a house boat from the company.

Their contract said the deposit was supposed to be mailed back seven to ten days after completing their trips.

Fuchsel is expected back in court at the end of April.

In May, a Mississippi River Rental houseboat lost power and went through a roller gate at Dresbach Lock and Dam. The accident sent 11 people abroad into the water. All were safely rescued.
