UW-L student named to UW Board of Regents

MADISON, Wis. (WXOW) - A UW-L political science major is the new traditional student representative on the UW System Board of Regents.

Governor Scott Walker announced Friday that Mount Pleasant native and UW-L sophomore Anicka Purath now serves on the board.

She'll serve a one year term from 2014-15.

In his announcement, Governor Walker said,“Anicka Purath demonstrates the leadership skills and educational drive to be a great representative of the traditional college student population. Her community involvement and interest in academic excellence will be a great benefit to the Board’s work in upholding the UW-System’s high educational standards.”

In addition to her studies, the announcement said that Purath spends time volunteering for local community organizations such as the YMCA, Children's Museum, and Norskedalen.
