Camp W-Kid's College gives kids hands-on experience in college courses

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) -Local kids got hands-on experience in college courses Saturday.

It's part of Camp W-Kid's College at Western Technical College.

Students grades four through six can take classes like woodworking, and learn the craft from actual Western Technical College students and teachers.

Other courses include 'Rescue 9-1-1', where EMT's and Paramedics teach the kids first aid.

The camp helps students like 11 year-old Diego Gonzalez-Diaz prepare for the future.

Diego said, "If one day we're walking down the street and we see someone who needs help, with the education we learn here, we can call 911 or help them and see what we can do for them."

Diego says he wants to be a doctor or a massage therapist when he grows up. More than 100 kids took part in the camp's 21st year.

The next camp is in the Fall. Visit their website for more information.
