Local organizations are helping educate the community on how to prevent the deadly disease.
Living for Liz is an organization that raises money and awareness for lung cancer.
The organization is in honor of La Crosse resident Liz Melde. Liz was a non-smoker who died of lung cancer in September of 2011.
The Health Expo Sunday focused not only on lung cancer but all types of cancers, and how everyday lifestyle decisions can help prevent the disease.
Monica Holman, Co-Founder of Living for Liz and Liz Melde's mother, says "Just start with the basic knowledge of staying healthy. What do what you need to do to stay healthy? Everything in moderation, emotionally and physically."
Almost a dozen local businesses were at the Health Expo, including representatives from both local hospitals.
The Living for Liz organization has donated more than $25,000 to lung cancer research locally this year.
