Pay stations to be activated in La Crosse parking ramps in April

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Pay stations at La Crosse parking ramps will begin to charge residents on April 22.

The city's parking board on Wednesday agreed to activate pay station systems in all three La Crosse parking ramps on April 21, but residents won't be charged until the 22nd.

After three free hours of parking, paystations will charge 75 cents per hour Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and 50 cents per hour after the three hour grace period from 1:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

Although a date has been set, parking board chairperson Audrey Kader said there is still a lot of work left to do for the board. "We're looking at the neighborhood parking issues, the possibility of them merging with the municipal transit board and then just basic implementation of the ramps," Kader said.

The board is still discussing how to use parking stalls on the top level of the Main Street ramp. Kader said at the board's next meeting (April 23), the Parking Board will discuss how to split up reserved and public parking spaces in the ramps.
