LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Dance battles, choreographed routines and lots of laughter filled the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Saturday for the eighth annual Rob Wagner Cancer Benefit.
The UW-L football and the dance teams put on the variety show, raising money for the American Cancer Society.
Eight years ago, former UW-L football player Rob Wagner was diagnosed with a rare bone caner. His best friend created the show to help with some of his medical bills.
"It blows my mind. This was not just a financial lift for my family during that battle, this was the emotional lift that we needed to continue on with my battle," Wagner said. "Every year that they do this show, it's truly a tribute to the student body here."
A couple of years back the cancer benefit also helped out another UW-L student battling cancer.
