LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Two members of the La Crosse Police Department are injured when their squad car is hit by a driver Friday evening.
In a statement from the department, the crash happened at 100 Lang Drive near Monitor Street around 9:35 p.m. An officer and a member of the Police Reserve were assisting a stranded motorist when a Dodge Durango SUV rear-ended the squad car. The squad did have its emergency lights on at the time of the crash.
Both were treated for minor injuries at a La Crosse hospital and later released.
The driver of the striking vehicle, 52-year-old Dwayne L. Anderson, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Anderson is now facing a charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated/Causing Injury.
The stranded motorist was out of the way on the sidewalk area and was not injured.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash.
